Sunday Snaps! (Rather Late!).

Hallo my dear bloggy friends.  I hope you're all having an enjoyable weekend and taking good care of yourselves.

Me? I've been going a bit stir-crazy as I haven't really been out much at all since my little holiday in hospital (!), so hubby suggested that we have a day out.  I really enjoyed it, although I'm rather tired again now because I did quite a lot of walking really.  They reckon that I should be walking for about 30 minutes after six weeks, and as it's only just been three weeks, I think that was more than enough for me today.

We went to a National Trust property about an hour away from here, called Knightshayes Court.  I don't know whether other countries have anything like the National Trust but, basically, a lot of the landed gentry here in England find it very difficult to keep up with the financial upkeep of looking after their country houses and estates, so the National Trust steps in and looks after them for the nation.

Anyway, that is why my Sunday Snaps feature is rather later than usual today, but I hope you enjoy looking at the photos of the gardens, which really are beautiful.

"Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul". (Luther Burbank).

See you all again soon!

Just arriving at your blog puts a smile on my face when I see your header picture.

The photos here today are stunning and added some colour to my dreary colourless side of the planet. In short order I think BC is going to float away, right off the coastline as we have had more than our share of rain. That being said...I'm thankful it's nothing worse.

Have a wonderful day! With smiles and hugs, Jenny

Hi Diane,

I realy enjoyed your trip to the National Trust property.
It all looked wonderful.

Wasn't the scarecrow hanging over the flowers just brilliant!

You look great after your little "holiday"

See Malcolm has a gigantic umbrella - need it here too.
We should be sunning ourselves not dodging the rain clouds!

Have a lovely week

Hallo, dear Thisisme! I am very fond of you but at the same time I need to remind you to ask permission the next time you wish to visit my estate and stroll around taking pictures! (LOL) I wish our friend Desiree was here to take this tour and view these magnificent images of the ivy enshrouded mansion and the rain freshened lawns, wildflowers, formal hedges and topiary. I also love the statuary including the family of deer. I remember the reference made to The National Trust in the Beatles' song "Happiness is a Warm Gun."

A soap impression of his wife
Which he ate and donated to the National Trust

My favorite picture in this edition of Sunday Snaps is the one of my great friend Thisisme. You look fit as a fiddle and I know it did you a world of good to get out and about. May you continue to gain strength and return to 100% in the very near future. Bless you, dear friend!

And I loved the Luther Burbank quote. I visited his garden in Santa Rosa years ago and that was a treat.

Hi Diane..
I've been so out of touch with the blogiverse lately, it's tragic. Just finding my way back again. I didn't know you were ill.. :(
But you look really good now, so I'm glad you're feeling better. :) :)
Your photographs are beautiful as always and make me want to visit England ever so badly. It's on my list, and I hope for it to happen someday! :)
I've always been fascinated by the English mansions (I think it started with Enid Blyton when I was 6.. :\ ) and I absolutely loved your picture of one framed by all those pretty flowers. It's beautiful. :)
Love and hugs! :)
PS: Your husband is so tall! :D
