Travelling To The Sun....(hopefully!)

Hi little bloggies.  I am typing this on Friday the 24th August and will schedule it to reach you on Sunday.  As I sit here looking out of the window, we have torrential rain here in Devon - yes, again!

My daughter has been saying to me every day, "90 degrees in Paris.  Bright sunshine"!! As you can imagine, this has not really been helping my mood!  Anyway, as you read this, I will be travelling back with them in the car, travelling to the sunshine.  Well, I can only live in hope.  Let's hope that I don't take the English rain over there with me.

I thought I would try to leave you with a smile today, and I have some advice for you on the subject of Dress Code for us slightly older (!) bloggies, as I find that many of us folk of a certain age can be quite confused as to how we should present ourselves to the world.

Feeling 'young', we try to conform to current fashions so that we present a youthful image to the world.  Contrary to what you may have seen on the streets, the following combinations DO NOT go together and should be avoided at all costs :-

1.  A nose ring and bifocals.

2.  Spiked hair and bald spots.

3.  A pierced tongue and dentures.

4.  Miniskirts and support hose.

5.  Ankle bracelets and corn pads.

6.  Speedo's and cellulite.

7.  A belly button ring and a gall bladder surgery scar.

8.  Unbuttoned disco shirts and a heart monitor.

9.  Midriff shirts and a midriff bulge.

10. Bikinis and liver spots.

11. Miniskirts and varicose veins.

And, most importantly,(and I'm mentioning no names here!) at some point you just have to give up the 'Daisy Duke' shorts!

So then, I'm hoping that, soon,  I shall be lying on a lounger IN THE SUN on daughter's lovely terrasse, with the obligatory glass of Rose` in my hand.  Sante`!

Au Revoir, and abientot!  Take care my little friends.

Have a great time in France Diane! I really hope you get some lovely weather down there.

We always joked when it's raining that "dad must have gone out for a walk!" It always rains when he goes out!

May the sun kiss you my friend. I shall soon be removing all my um belly button rings for my gallbladder surgery...wink. Kidding about the rings but not the surgery. I took care of many patients with infected piercings of belly buttons. Can we say gross? Have too much fun!

My eyes were drinking in the beauty of your header with your adorable grandchildren and are now in pain from seeing the last picture. OMG how could people of that age go around looking like that?
I have my fingers and legs crossed hoping you will indeed have lots of sun to enjoy at your daughters lovely place and don't forget to lift a glass for me and have a wonderful time.
Hugs,
Odie

Hallo, dear Thisisme! I hope you had a safe trip over to France and that fair skies and pleasant temperatures were there to greet you. Our weather is going downhill today as Isaac approaches from the south. We are expecting tropical storm force winds and heavy rain all day tomorrow. Mercifully the storm is expected to remain out in the Gulf as it passes by on its way to a landfall in the Florida panhandle or somewhere alone the northern Gulf coast.

I hope all is well with you, dear friend. You are out of sight but never out of mind. I hope you are felling well physically and in good spirits. I hope little Ruby is doing much better with her arm and that Alfred is chipper. I think about you every day and miss you. Have a wonderful stay in France and let us hear from you again when you get the chance. Blessings to you, dear friend Thisisme!

OMG Thisisme! That's some photo of the old lady! I certainly hope it has been seen by those who don't think to look backwards into their mirrors. Us girls of a certain age can still look youthful and stay in style, using good sense. Myself, I prefer Bermuda shorts!

You may be in Paris by now...hope your trip has been pleasant. And, I know you'll have a glorious time! I was pleasantly surprised to see you here this morning. See you soon, I know!♥

I am so happy that you are 'traveling to the sun' with your daughter. I can't think of anything that will do more for your mood. You have had such a dreary summer weather wise Have a fabulous time!

Ok, now I can't get that picture out of my mind, that is just wrong, that lady should have been arrested for indecent exposure and causing trauma to young children. I just got back from Italy and the sunshine was abundant, you do well to travel to France for a while, too much rain would make anybody miserable. Bon Voyage :)

Oh, Diane, I'm so happy for you that you're able to take such marvelous trips. And goodness....you definitely deserve and need some sunshine!! I love all the dress code tips...and that last picture....Ewwwww! :D
(And speaking of how us "kind of" older gals should dress....don't you just hate it when we are subjected to the "latest styles"? I absolutely hate all the ladies shirts on the racks with the god-awful patterns and the way they're made. I asked a store clerk just recently, "Do you have ANY shirts for a woman my age that don't make me look PREGNANT?!" Sheesh!

Why am I fearful of what the woman in the Daisy Dukes is showing that gentleman? His eyes seem to be looking at her waist so she could be presenting exactly what I'm thinking!

Eye bleach! Brain bleach! I need both! LOL!!!!
