Not As We Had Planned ....

Here we are again then dear bloggies. Most of you know that I am now in France with daughter and son-in-law number one, and the delightful Eleanor.

Emma has had pain in her back for a long, long time now and has been going to the Doctor having various tests of one form or another.

They say she has Spondylitis Arthritis, which is quite worrying, as she is only in her early forties. Emma has been taking meds every four hours, but they are not touching the pain 😔 and she is not sleeping at night. Also, there is another problem with her back that will need an operation. My mum suffered terribly with her back, and I have had two operations, so it would seem that it is an hereditary thing.

She is hardly able to walk these days, certainly not very far at all. This morning was a particularly bad time, as she couldn't move at all and was in agony. She was literally shaking with the pain.

Anyway, we called for the doctor, and an ambulance came and took her into Hospital at 1 pm this afternoon. Emma didn't want the doctor to be called, but as her mum, I just thought enough was enough, and we had to try to get it sorted. She is still in dreadful pain, but they have just given her some morphine, thank goodness.

At least she is in the right place now. Thankfully, Eleanor is on half term holiday, so she is with her mum. I am home alone looking after Alfred!

See you again soon.

Please tell Emma that I'm thinking of her and do understand what we call Ankylosing Spondylitis here in the US. I was tested for it because my symptoms are almost identical. Sending prayers, healing thoughts and hugs to all of you my awesome friend. XX

I am so, so sorry that your dear Emma is suffering not only from this condition, but also from this terrible pain. As her mom, you must be beside yourself with worry. Hugs to you and prayers for dear Emma and you. I pray the pain can be dealt with and that she will soon resume her normal activities.

I'm sad to hear this news. Please know that I am praying for healing for Emma and am holding you in my thoughts as well. It's very difficult to see the one you love suffer.

My goodness, Thisisme, what next? I can't believe the run of misfortune surrounding your family in recent months. I know very well what chronic pain is like and I am deeply saddened to learn that Emma is suffering enough to be hospitalized. I hope the doctors can diagnose any and all problems, get her started on the wisest and most effective course of meds and perform the needed back surgery in a timely manner and without complication. My thoughts and prayers are with Emma, Mark, Eleanor and with you, dear friend. Keep us posted.

I recently wrote a post on ankylosing spondylitis (although I didn't mention that name) The post was Aug 28 2013 entitled "Life could be a Paper Clip." I was urging more laughter for myself and others and told about an old book I read by Norman Cousins called, "Anatomy of an Illness." He had A.S. and cured himself with laughter. I remembered that book for years from when I first read it. He moved himself from the hospital because he was laughing so hard and annoying the other patients. His doctor was amazed at his recovery. You may be interested in looking up the book.
You are in my thoughts but according to Norman Cousins, right now she would benefit more from your laughter than your tears.
My love to your family

Dearest Diane,
OMG, so sorry to hear about your precious Emma. No other persons can guess how hard the pain would be except for herself!!! I AM also keeping her in my prayers, my dear friend☆☆☆

PS> Thank you SO much for your sweet comment for my father. I'm visiting his hospital every day. He has no reaction for anything. His heart must be strong.

Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
