This Is Not Nice Peeps!

Hi everyone.  Hope all is well with all my bloggy friends today.  Since my daughter and granddaughter have been here from France, I have been taking their little French Bulldog (Alfred) out for a walk most days, and I must admit that I am really enjoying it.

We have a large park area just a field across from our house.  It is very pretty, with a large fishing lake which has lots of Canadian Geese on it.  When you walk around there, you really see nature at its best, especially when the sun is shining!

But, and this is the bit which is not nice, I have been dismayed at the amount of dog mess that people leave in this beautiful place, whilst they are out walking their dogs.  So much so that, instead of enjoying all the beauty around me, I have had to keep my eyes peeled to the ground, to make sure that Alfred wasn't eating what he shouldn't be eating while he was snuffling around!

Why do people do this? It really is beyond me and certainly gives dog owners a bad name, which is a shame, because I know that the majority of them do pick up the mess.  After all, there are enough bins for just this sort of rubbish in the park area.

Lots of little children go up there (including my two youngest grandchildren) to run around and kick a ball, so it really is not good enough.

Anyway, I shall end on a pleasant note, with a couple of quotations which I hope will make you smile.  (Can you believe that it's the 1st of July already?!  I guess all my American friends will be getting geared up to celebrate American Independence Day!)

. "Properly trained, a man can be dog's best friend." - Corey Ford

"If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then giving Fido only two of them." - Phil Pastoret
. "The dog is a yes-animal, very popular with people who can't afford to keep a yes-man." - Robertson Davies
. "A dog is one of the remaining reasons why some people can be persuaded to go for a walk." - O.A. Battista

I so agree with this, I do not know why some dog owners do not pick up after their dog. Around here if they get caught they get a fine!!!

Oh Thisisme I so agree with you about dog owners who dont pick up their doggie messes. So sad and it does give us dog owners a bad name. So glad you ar enjoying the time with Alfred and walks. I know how much CK girl and I enjoy ours. We too must be on the outlook on the field across the way. But it is a bit scary I have stepped in it.
Yes dogs can count at least my CK can. She always knows what I have in that pocket.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings

Funnily enough this is what we establish each time we walk Naila!
Love the first quote, it is so true, that is what she does to us on a daily basis! :)

Oh yeah I do not understand why people do not pick up their dogs mess and if they do not want to pick up after their dogs then they should not walk them but leave them to make a mess in their own yards.........

Yes, the scoop on the poop is not very good news. We had a couple in our neighborhood who thought it was perfectly acceptable to allow their TWO pups to poop in the street gutter. Their rationale being cars would run over it when parking and it would smoosh into extinction. I say what of the poor soul disembarking from said auto?

On the other hand their is nothing as sweet as the love of a pet. We do so love our fur babies!

Enjoy the weekend with Alfred and company...

I love the quotes you ended with :) I am 100% behind you on responsible pet ownership, which includes picking up ones dog poops!!! I'm also astounded at how lax some people are about keeping their own gardens free of their dog's plops! We have five as you know and it is a DAILY routine of mine to pick up and flush away or hose away those that aren't easily picked up! It's a shame when lovely public places are soiled by unwelcome mounds that one has to constantly be avoiding!
The pictures you've shared are beautiful, Diane! You are so elegant and lovely!!!

Disgusting, but maybe the dogs are out alone, something else that I also disapprove of. :(

Perhaps you could raise money for charity by operating a pooper-scooper concession at the park, Thisisme! (LOL) My Cocker Spaniel Toto has the nasty habit of rolling in dog poop whenever she get's the chance! It must smell like perfume to her! Worse yet, she usually does it immediately after a bath, no doubt trying to remove the awful stench of flower scented shampoo from her coat. Alfred certainly is a handsome fellow and I always appreciate pictures of him. I hope that you and yours have a sunny, warm and wonderful weekend, Thisisme!

melody-mae - yes, they get fined here but, of course, no-one ever goes around checking the situation, do they?! Hope your two daughters got off alright.

Bethe - As you say, it is so sad that these people give dog owners a bad name. With all the publicity about it, I just can't understand why they don't pick up the mess. Everyone knows just how terrible it would be if children get near it.

Claudia - you will have to post a photo of your Naila!

Jo-Anne Rambling - I so agree with you my friend.

Sush - like Claudia, you will have to post a photo of your fur babies!! Can't believe those neighbours let their pups poop in the gutter!!! :(

Desiree - glad you liked the photos my friend! Yes, it is really so sad when these beautiful places are being defaced by all this dog mess. I honestly couldn't believe just how much there was around. Have a good weekend over there in S.A.

LindyLouMac in Italy - I suppose that could be a point. Perhaps they are out on their own, but I've never seen any dogs on their own. I think that would be quite unusual in this particular area. Enjoy your weekend my friend.

Shady - good idea about the charity consession my dear friend! Hee Hee!! I can imagine your Toto rolling in the dog poop! They do seem to be highly attracted to it, don't they?! Hope you get a relaxing weekend over there, and that it won't be too hot for you.

I certainly don't understand why people doesn't pick up their dog's poops...it's not very nice at all. Especially when you're in a park and wanting to enjoy the environment but have to watch your step all the time...ewwww.

Nice photos by the way :-)

Have a nice day!

EvaMarie - You're right. It's awful when you have to be watching your step all the time. Hope you have a chillaxing weekend my friend!

I agree with you totally but I am also afraid the general public will not change. Let me say with all honesty you were looking mighty fine smiling at the camera with Alfred. I quickly saved a copy of that picture.
Made my morning. Have an awesome weekend.

Oh, how nice to have a lovely walk with Alfred (love the cute doggie, I wish to have one, but hubby won't go along with the idea because we don't know who or which will go to be with God earlier for our age. he worries too much, haha)
In my community or housing development, it sure used be a big issue. I think it got really much better. Hope the day will come you don't have to concern about it.

Blessing and hope ypu will have Lovely weekend, Orchid.

Odie - hi my friend. I think you are right about the general public not changing in their attitude to this problem. Glad you liked the photos! Have a lovely weekend and enjoy your vacation with those adorable little goats!

Enjoy your Japanese weekend.

We take Penelope to the dog park in Houston every weekend and they supply bags and bins in the park itself the amount of people that still don't pick it up is unbelievable. Never mind kids try hubby's that don't look where they are walking!!!

You think you've seen poop on the streets in Devon - come to Paris and see the amount that is there!

I love, love, love that picture of you looking up at the camera. I see so much of your daughter in you there. Alfred is just too cute. I keep saying it but it's true. And yes, people are inconsiderate and make it difficult for the others who want to enjoy a park. Hugs sweet lady.

I get very upset with irresponsible pet owners. I think they should be fined.

I miss walking my Buster. We had to put him down a year ago. Love the quote: "A dog is one of the remaining reasons why some people can be persuaded to go for a walk. It is so true.

Paula MJ - lovely to see you here today! Thanks for popping over. As you say, it's utterly unbelievable that even when bins and bags are provided, people still don't bother. It does make you wonder about their mentality. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Gawgus things - Ugh, that's pretty gross about the streets of Paris. We certainly don't see much of it in the streets around here - only in the parks :(

Bouncin'Barb - that's sweet of you to say that you like the photo! People used to say that my eldest daughter looked very much like me, with the same characteristics, but we could never really see it! Hope you and Bruce will have a good weekend my friend. At least it won't be quite so tiring as last weekend! Hugs.

Retired English Teacher - Yes, they certainly should be fined but, just how do you police this sort of thing. It really annoys me, I'm afraid!! I'm sorry to hear that Buster had to be put down, and I'm sure you still miss him.

This is an important issue. Our city has had a leash law, for years and years. (Our little daughter was bitten, and I led the campaign to get this law, btw.)

Along with the leash law, we have a Clean Up After Your Pets law. People walk their dogs, carrying a plastic bag and put the dog pooh in it.

Our city is not like Paris. We loved Paris, but did not love the all-over-dog-pooh. :-(

When they first came out with the law to pick up the poop I thought it was so silly. Now after seeing the effects of the leaving it I so totally agree with you. Living out in the country we do not see it that much but what get me is the people who get tired of their pets and just dump them in the country. That is how we got all our pets. Two dogs and two cats not to minchen the Shitsue we are baby sitting for Calvin and Sue. I would LOVE to take the DUMPERS and stick them in the middle of a desert and kick them out.

HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND AND ENJOY YOUR FAMILY.

Tim, I would be chuffed about that too. Love that picture of you. Have a lovely weekend. hugs♥O

Sometimes when I take my dogs out I have forgotten to bring a bag, but the park here has a container with bags in it just for us forgetful people!

I agree - people should clean up their messes - we are our worst enemies. Pretty park and cute dog!

Rebecca said...

i have never understood this either i mean you wouldn't let your child make a mess and leave so why your animal they are after all part of the family. it is sad more owners aren't responsible

Hi Thisisme. Those are great photos of you and Albert. I think the two of you have a great relationship! It's a shame when you have to watch where you walk, and children don't pay attention when they're romping thru the grass. You're right, it looks bad for those who do go along and pick up.

Yes, we're all bearing down for the Independence holiday, but there are burn bans out. It is so hot and dry, that some cities are banning fireworks. I'm okay with that, I stay away from them anymore. It's too dangerous. So, I'll watch them on TV safely! Have a great weekend!

I'm with you on the dog poop. It's awful that some people can just leave it hanging around.

This morning I saw the Malaysian equivalent of this problem - a young boy peeing in a roadside drain beside the chicken rice shop! Horrifying!

Aunt Amelia's Attic - that was good that you fought to have that law brought in, and horrible that your daughter was bitten like that. I didn't realize that Paris was like that, with the dog poo. Ugh!!

rainbow - oh, that's just awful that people dump their pets like that! :( What on earth are these people thinking of, but how good that you get your pets this way. Good for you! Hope you have a lovely weekend over there.

Olive - glad you liked the photos! Hope you have a lovely weekend over there too.

Belle - hi there! What a brilliant idea to have a bag machine in the park for those who forget to bring one. Hope you're having a good weekend my friend.

Chatty Crone - thank you. Yes, Alfred is a little cutie, and he is so well behaved!

Susan - thank you! Yes, it is such a shame that some dog owners aren't more responsible. As you say, when little ones are playing or running around, they aren't looking out for it like we have to.

Becca - I so agree, you wouldn't leave your children's mess in the park, so why even think of leaving the dog's mess! Ugh!

Duncan - hi there. Ugh, that was gross what that little boy did!! Hope you and your little family are all well.

I agree with you my friend. It is appalling that people do not take a moment to clean up after their pets. It does ruin it for others. We have to deal with people who allow their dogs to leave their "mess" in our garden. Yes, I said garden. At the entry to our driveway I have a garden border and some decorative rocks, flowers etc. Many a time we have asked people ( politely) to not let their dogs relieve themselves on the rock or in out garden. Not to mention leave their"mess" behind. There was a time a few years back when the same woman would keep letting her dog leave a mess...I hope you don't think badly of us when I tell you this.... My husband collected the mess in a bag for a week! Took it to her house knocked on he door and said" this belongs to you". She walks her dog on a different path now. I wonder who is receiving her pets mess now...Sigh

Big hugs my friend enjoy your time with family. xo

I do agree with you Diane it is disgraceful when people don't clean up after their dogs. In our park, they don't seem to have enough bins, so the bins are always overflowing with bags which is a bit revolting also! Have an enjoyable weekend, love Linda x

Katherine's Corner - Hi there. What an awful situation with that dog fouling on that bit of your front garden. Unbelievable! I certainly do not think it was wrong what your husband did! I would have done exactly the same thing. What is wrong with these people?! Nice to see you here today my friend.

flowers on my table - I think we're all as one on this particular subject!! It has been a glorious warm day today with the sun shining non-stop, so I do hope it is like that with you today. As you say, overflowing bins are almost as bad! Enjoy the rest of the weekend my friend.
