Bouncy Bouncy!!

My dear daughter has now had the brilliant (!) idea that, as well as having the Marquee in the garden for her wedding day, we should also  have a Bouncy Castle  to keep the children entertained!

All I can say is, it's a good job that we have a large garden!  It has now finally been decided that when the guests arrive back at the house after the wedding ceremony, fresh scones will be served, with strawberry jam and Devonshire clotted cream.  We haven't yet decided whether to serve champagne at that point, or go with Pimms for everyone.

The buffet meal will be served in the marquee at 5 p.m. (the wedding is at 2 p.m.) and then we have to provide food for the extra guests that will be arriving in the evening.  I must confess that my head is beginning to spin a little with all that is going to be happening on the day!  Deep breaths, "thisisme", deep breaths!!  (Hee Hee!).   After all, if the Royal Wedding could go off without a hitch, then I'm sure our much more modest little affair will be just fine!!  (If all else fails, I shall just have another glass of champagne!).

This weekend we really must head off into the city to buy a new suit for hubby!  I am NOT particularly looking forward to this, as he can be such a pain on these occasions.  That is why I usually just buy his clothes for him - saves an awful lot of hassle - but I can't really just pick up a suit without him trying it on.  I expect he will huff and puff his way around shop after shop, picking fault with most things that I suggest.  (Nothing new there then. LOL!!).

Anyway, at least I have all my little bloggy friends to keep me sane.

I am with you all the way in your joy and in your panic. It is now almost two years since I had my last two sons marrying six months apart from one another and the birth of my third grandchild sandwiched in between! Panic and joy will be your companions now and then, but as I told all my soon to be new daughters and my sons...'No one knows your plans but you so just let it fly and enjoy the moments...they only come 'round once'! I'm so happy to have discovered your blog...I've never been to England but someday is my dream!
Hugs from the southern US~
PS...My daughter is the last to marry...hopefully not anytime soon wink, wink!

Bethe77 - I don't think hubbies are much into shopping!! Now wouldn't that be wonderful if all my little bloggy friends came along to the wedding. That would take my mind off things. LOL!!

Sush - Lovely of you to pop over to my blog and become my latest Follower. Thank you! That must have been quite a time for you when your two sons got married so quickly, but really good advice you gave them all there. Like you, I have three grandchildren, and I feel so blessed to have them.

Sounds very exciting. Maybe don't have any horses that could go wild. How many children are you having? You might need someone to supervise the castle. Maybe you could tell Mr 'Thisisme' when he tries on his new suit that he looks younger and quite slim... just a thought to soothe the shopping experience...

Bouncy castle sounds ace. My sister wants one for her 50th this year!

Hi This! ~ It sounds like everything is coming together nicely. I am sure that your head IS spinning, tho! Mine would be! Haha! My hubby is like yours. He does NOT like to "shop". Even shopping for shoes... he is not fun to be with! ~ Keep up the good work and I know that it will be beautiful! :)

Just Martha - Hi! Lovely to have you drop by ! There will be fourteen children from 2 - 9, and a couple of teenagers, plus a couple of little babies!!! That's the problem, supervising them all! Oh well, there will be enough of us there to keep an eye on everything I'm sure. Good advice on the shopping with hubby!!

lyndylou - Hee Hee! Wouldn't that be amazing to have a bouncy castle for your sister's 50th. Let's hope there will be no broken bones!!! LOL!

Vintage Sunday - thank you for your loving thoughts and prayers. Another verse I like is "in quietness and trust is your strength."

Becky - oh my goodness, shopping for shoes with hubby is something else. He tells me that he desperately needs a pair; we traipse round the shops and invariably come home empty-handed!! LOL!

I wouldn't rely on Shady/Daisy to keep you sane, Thisisme! (LOL) I can feel the excitement mounting on your side of the computer screen as the days quickly pass and the big event draws closer. Did you get Alfred fitted for his tux yet? I'm sure he approves of the menu that you described and that he'll want to take a doggie bag back home to Paris! Have a fine day, dear friend!

There are two things I don't care for. One is huge gatherings, especially if I have to have a suit on and the other is buying a suit. Tell your hubby I feel his pain. I am sure you will pull it all off without a hitch just remember the breathing and keep the bubbly handy. Have a great rest of your friday and an awesome weekend.

Yay for bouncing! Sounds like fun.

My hubs is a pretty standard size [besides being tall] so I did buy his clothes for him if need be. He does the same for me. I feel for you tho' - that can't be the funnest of shopping trips.

And I have to agree with Beth - get ready from some party crashers. :D

Southhamsdarling said...

Shady - and there was me thinking that I could rely on you and Daisy! :) I believe they are looking for a tuxedo for Alfred!! Have a good weekend dear friend.

Odie - I'm with you on the huge gatherings, especially if I don't know many people there. There are only 35 (plus a few children) coming to the actual wedding ceremony, and a few more friends coming along in the evening to help the newlyweds celebrate. I believe it's just you and Rocky this weekend, so I know you will enjoy yourselves!

SkippyMom - The gatecrashers would be very welcome. Shall I order in some more champagne??! Hope all is well across the pond. Hugs.

I am always so appreciative of people who remember children at big social events. They have to dress up, be polite and try to remember all of their elders. That bouncy house will make a lot of memories. It's also very great that children are being included. The wedding plans sound so lovely. What a great mom you are to host this wonderful event for your daughter. Maybe your husband can have a turn in the bouncy house after shopping for his suit;)

kneesandpaws - most of my daughter's friends have young children or babies, and she wanted them to the wedding as well! I'm sure the bouncy castle will be well used and, yes, I shall put hubby on there if he's a pain when we're out shopping for his suit!!

Manzanita - thank you so much for popping over and leaving a comment, and for becoming my latest Follower! Glad you like the garden header photo.

Becca - Yes, eating cupcakes always sounds like a good idea to me! LOL!!

Hi Diane .. sounds like you need some staff for the day ... looking after everyone and serving ...

Oh deep breathes .. and wine ready for when you return from your shopping trip with husband for his suit ... I had to go with my husband last year ... it was a nightmare . and now it does not fit him, he has lost weight , but no way was I going to let him chooose a suit ..on his own ..this is the only time I would help him ha ha ha

Ohyes, a bouncy thing.

Except, after some champagne, some of the guests may want to try it too. -giggles- No, just kidding.

And yes, someone said you will need staff. I would say so!!!

Please tell your husband that I "feel" for him. I hate shopping too! I do. And when I have to go out and do it, it is 1 - 2 - 3, and out.

I send away for my own clothing... All cotton and simple, simple dresses. :-) Have a place, which I have used for years.

Yes, deep breaths. Practice. Deep breaths. :-)

Gentle hugs,
~♥~

Pimms, definitely Pimms so refreshing, so British! You never know Hubby might get sorted out in the first shop and then you can go for coffee. tee hee! (or Pimms) ha ha! I think I've been on the computer blogging too long, I'm getting delirious! Have a lovely lovely weekend, love Linda x

Sorry I'm so late today. So busy with my mom that I needed a nap afterwards!

I think it is brilliant to have a bouncy castle for the children as it will keep them happy and amused.
I pity you for the shopping excursion with hubby. My husband calls shopping a "Mission". And heaven help me if I stop to look at a pair of shoes! They are not part of the mission!

Senorita - thank you so much for popping over to my blog and leaving a comment!

Anne in Oxfordshire - I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who has problems when out clothes shopping for the husband!! I've got a couple of girlfriends coming round to help in the afternoon and again in the evening.

Aunt Amelia's attic - yes, I know exactly what you mean after a few drinks have been had, and the bouncy castle!! As you can see from the above comment, I have friends coming in to help! Unlike you, I absolutely LOVE shopping. You're missing out on something there Aunt Amelia! LOL!!

flowers on my table - I know what you mean about getting delirious after blogging so long!! I get exactly the same sometimes and start to say silly things! Hee Hee! Right then - Pimms it is!!

Belle - I smiled after your comment about having to have a nap after dealing with your mum! LOL!! My husband and I have hardly ever been shopping together in all the time that we've been married. It's just not worth the hassle, believe me! He too will be on a MISSION! Oh dear!!

Why oh why is it that men would rather just walk into the first shop they see and buy the first thing they see, it took me ages to convince hubby that it pays to shop around.

The plans sound good I think it would be a great idea to have a jumping castle for the kids if there is going to be a number of kids in attendence.

On My Soapbox said...

I hate to say this, but will parents want their children to be jumping in a bouncy castle while in their dress-up clothing? How about having a clown, or someone who does soap bubble tricks or makes balloon animals??

Best of luck - it sounds like quite an event!

Southhamsdarling said...

On My Soapbox - actually, that's a very good point you have made there! I shall have a word....
