Sunday Snap!

As I've been talking a bit (okay then - a lot!!) about my younger daughter's wedding, I thought I would post a photo of my elder (she won't like me for that!!!) daughter's wedding, taken many moons ago.

We still don't know why on earth the hubby decided to grow a beard for the occasion, as he had never had one before, and hasn't had one since (thank the Lord!).  Anyway, they both look very happy, don't they?

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend.  We had our Mothering Sunday over here in England back in March, but I understand that, certainly in America, it is Mothers Day today, so I just wanted to take this opportunity of saying Happy Mothers Day to all those whose special day it is today, and I hope that you are being spoilt a little bit. For those of you not in touch with your loved ones on this day, I pray that next year will be better for you.

Lovely picture...aren't our husbands funny, the things they get in their heads? Sort of like when I permed my hair clear out of the blue, and it didn't work. At all. And then fifteen years later thought oh I'll do it again and 'THIS' time it'll work. Nah, again, I looked like a poodle let loose on the streets alone and not cared for!
Thank you for the lovely thoughts on Mother's Day~and I hope you are having a sweet Sunday.

Love the photo I do not understand why some men grow beards as some of them do not look great with a beard although have to say the hubby in this photo looked ok with one........ My husband grows a beard every now and agin but I do not like him with a beard I think it makes him look to old and he often doesn't keep it well groomed.

Sush - Yes, husbands ARE funny! LOL! I chuckled at your perm!! We never learn, do we?!

Bethe - Yes, I love wedding photos as well. Hope your Mothers Day is a lovely one.

Jo-Anne Mother and Nanna - An ungroomed beard is NOT a good look. LOL!!

Lovely photo, such nice memories right?

Claudia - yes, we have very happy memories of that day. It was actually the hottest day of the year when she got married.

It's Mother's Day in Malaysia today, so I get to celebrate it twice a year!

Lucky mum, that's what I say!

Oh please don't apologize for the beard! I love a beard!

Have had to pester and pester and pester my husband to grow one. And now, with warmer weather coming, I'll have to pester and pester him, NOT to shave it off! :-)

Thank you for the Mother's Day wishes.

Gentle hugs,
~♥~

Thanks for sharing that special photo which gives us the best look at your hubby yet so I can remember. Like him, I grew a full beard one time and it had more gray than dark color. Have a blessed rest of the day my friend.

What a lovely post. You really are such a nice person.
The photograph oozes happiness. Sadly Hubby looks mega embarrassed on ours and I look drunk!
The comment you left me today has had me guffawing madly. I really must try the Smarties trail. Thank you very much indeed.
Hope you are having a lovely Sunday. Hubby has just taken me on a two and a half hour walk -eeeek! Thank goodness your comment was there to cheer me up afterwards.
XOXO

I love it when you share family photos, Thisisme, because every piece of the puzzle is important in forming the big picture. Yesterday you wrote that you feel as if you know me. That touched me deeply. I very much want you and my other bloggy friends to read between the lines and get a sense of who and what I am. It seems like I have known you, Belle, Odie and others a very long time. It's hard to believe that none of you were in my life last year at this time, indeed not until autumn! Have a very happy Sunday in your part of the world, dear Thisisme!

Aunt Amelia's Attic - it's funny how we're all different, isn't it?! Beards have never really done much for me, I must admit. Hope your weekend is going well.

Katherine's Corner - thank you my friend. I have been working in the garden, and now I'm looking forward to roast chicken for dinner this evening!

Odie - I can't really imagine you with a beard. I like to see that smiley face just as it is! Take care.

Facing50 with Humour - you ARE good going on all these long walks. I really must get myself going. I always used to have a really good walk round the coast at least twice a week, but then my best friend passed away and then a couple of my other friends can't really walk too well. Eeeek! This is not good! I shall imagine you laying out the smarties even as we speak!!

Shady - what a lovely comment, as always. It's amazing, that I only started blogging at the end of October last year, so just over six months, and yet, as you quite rightly say, it's as if we have been in each other lives for much longer. I look forward very much to our continued friendship dear friend.

Dear Thisisme,

There is something very special in the look between daughter and father in this photo.

Their happiness and joy is palatable and so uplifting.
I do hope she doesn't mind you sharing this particular photo - it is truly magical.

As to the beard, wow, just for her, like a keepsake from dad! A sort of once in a lifetime treasure, if you will, that makes this picture therefore priceless!

Lovely reflective post - and thanks for the Mother's Day wishes.

Happy Thoughts,
Jenny

Pearson Report - thank you for always taking the time out to pop over and leave a comment. I do appreciate it! I'll tell her that the beard was a special thing just for her!! Yes, they do radiate happiness, don't they and I'm glad to say that my daughter is every bit as happy today as the day she got married.

Sorry I'm late in making my blog calls today! I was gardening as we have workmen all this week and I won't be able to get out there while they are busy. This is a beautiful photograph. Such unbridled happiness and so obviously a daughter who adores her Dad and a Father who adores his daughter! What a special day it must have been! I heeded your suggestion to nip across and see what Carol has been up to. Don't worry! I gave it to her straight. No beating about the bush this time!

Southhamsdarling said...

Desiree - Always lovely to hear from you. Don't envy you having the workmen in. Are they doing anything nice?? Yes, that photo is a real happiness one, isn't it?! Very proud dad indeed! I'm going to dash over to Facing 50 and look at your comment! Hee Hee!!

Your daughter was a gorgeous bride! What a happy day! The photo reminded me of my own daughter's weddings.
I kind of like your husband's goatee. He looks a little like Donald Sutherland. Have a lovely Sunday.
