I wasn't going to be posting today, but then I saw a piece on 50 Ways To Cope With Stress. I thought it was really lovely and well worth posting to all my little bloggy friends. This comes courtesy of Just Martha at Jelly Shane - believe me, her blog is well worth a visit, and I know that she would make you very welcome!
50 Ways To Cope With Stress
Get up 15 minutes earlier. Prepare for the morning the evening before.
Don't rely on your memory ... write things down!
Repair things that don't work properly.
MAKE DUPLICATE KEYS.
Say "NO" more often.
Set priorities in your life.
AVOID NEGATIVE PEOPLE.
Always make copies of important papers.
Ask for help with jobs you dislike doing.
Break large tasks into bite-sized portions.
Look at problems as challenges.
SMILE MORE.
Be prepared for rain!
Schedule a play time into every day.
Avoid tight fitting clothes.
Take a bubble bath.
BELIEVE IN YOU.
Visualize yourself winning.
Develop a sense of humour.
Stop thinking that tomorrow will be a better day.
Have goals for yourself.
Say "Hello" to a stranger.
LOOK UP AT THE STARS.
Practice breathing slowly.
Do brand new things.
Stop a bad habit.
Take stock of your achievements.
DO IT TODAY.
Strive for excellence - not perfection.
Look at a work of art.
Try to maintain your weight.
Plant a tree.
Stand up and stretch.
ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN B.
Learn a new Doodle.
Learn to meet your own needs.
Become a better listener.
Know your limitations and let others know them too.
Throw a paper aeroplane.
Exercise every day.
Get to work early.
Clean out one closet a day.
Take a different route to work.
Remember, you always have options.
QUIT TRYING TO FIX OTHER PEOPLE.
Leave work early (with permission!).
Get enough sleep.
Praise other people.

I'm the early bird today, Thisisme, because I haven't gone to bed yet. Looks like the "get enough sleep" rule is something I need to work on pronto! (LOL) I already adhere to most of these and agree with them all. Get an early start, have a plan B, learn to say no, set priorities and chunk down large tasks so that they don't overwhelm you. Probably the most important one is to avoid negative people because, if you're not careful or spend too much time trying to fix them, they will sap your strength, poison your mind and pull you right down with them. Thank you for posting, dear Thisisme, and have a fine day over your way!
Thisisme I just love the list I had to copy to word so I could print off. I am going to share with my friends this is awesome. We all could take a few notes of n this one. Have a blessed weekend
Blessings
this is a wonderful post and I am so glad you posted it. I need to heed some of these for sure...
have a lovely weekend my sweet bloggie friend, I so appreciate you!
Shady - No brownie points for you today then, staying up so late!! Knowing you as I do (you see, I do feel that I know you, even through this virtual world!), I knew that you would be working to a lot of that list already. I agree with you about the negative people though. We've probably all been there at some point, and they really do drain all the goodness out of you. Have a lovely weekend dear friend and thanks, as always, for coming along to visit me.
Bethe77 - Yes, I think the list IS worth copying. There are some good pointers there. Most of them, we probably know already, but it is good to have them all on one list like that. Happy weekend to you!
Melody-mae - Glad you enjoyed the post today. Take care.
I did like Bethe77 copied it to word and will be printing it off and posting it up on my wall.......... and will also be giving a copy to each of my daughters and my sisters and mother that is how much I like it.....thanks for sharing it with us.
Jo-Anne Mother and Nanna - I'm so glad you appreciated that list. It is worth passing on, isn't it?! Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Hi Diane .. a brilliant list for de-stressing ....
I always get up earlier than I need to , when going to work ....I make a cup of tea , and sit in bed and drink it , then I get up and get ready for work .. yep the uniform is already etc. I have started to avoid people who are negative or that I feel bring me down .. been a bit hard , as for learning to meet my own needs .. been doing that for a whle now ..I can go and do stuff on my own, even go for coffee, but cannot go to cinema or museum .. seems very odd. Thanks for sharing the list , takce care xox

This is a GREAT list! Lots of things that I hadn't thought of! I plan on copying this list and saving it to my computer. I may even print it out and keep it in my purse! Thank you!! :)
Anne in Oxfordshire - glad you approved of the list, and it's good that you are doing so many of the things already. I think we all forget to look after ourselves sometimes, and it is very important.
Becky - I think it is worth printing off, because we all read it and then get on with our lives, and then sometimes forget about the important things again!
That is brilliant advice for sure. I hadn't seen this post so thanks for sharing it! I will try to get up 15 minutes earlier next week...just not tomorrow since it is Mother's day!
Hope you have a lovely weekend and Happy Mother's day!
Best wishes always,
Natasha.
Natasha - Happy Mothers Day to you too!! I always get up an hour early, but then I get involved with blogging, and, ooops! Where did that time go!!!
"Say "NO" more often.
AVOID NEGATIVE PEOPLE."
These really shouldn't be so close to one another, crazy people like me will try to make a joke. I guess I understand the "no" though, probably like the "say no to drugs" and such.
The list is nice, thank you for sharing!
Lavi - Well, "no" to drugs is good, but I was thinking more of saying "no" when you are asked to go somewhere that you really don't want to be, or do something that you really aren't interested in". That's my take on it anyway, for what it's worth!!
The two that jump out at me that are very important for me were: AVOID NEGATIVE PEOPLE, and ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN B. Best advice I ever got and live by.
Thank you for sharing...
Oh a lovely new Header Pic!!!!!
Wishing you, a lovely Mother's Day Weekend. ~♥~ Even though you already had your Mothering Day, a while ago. :-)
This is a good list to print out and have in an obvious place (next to my bed might be the best spot) for regular reference :) Thank you for sharing these!
Big hug,
Des xoxo
what a wonderful post i am going to print this out and tape it to my fridge to remind me daily of how to cope.thank you
This is great! Each of the suggestions make perfect sense. Thanks Thisisme for the re-inforcements!
Bouncin'Barb - I totally agree with you on those two points. I haven't always been good at having a Plan B in the past, but it is certainly something I have been working on more recently. And as for negative people - no thank you!! Good job all our little bloggy friends, although sometimes suffering ill health and hardships, still manage to remain there for all of us, so no negativity there!
Aunt Amelia's Attic - yes, indeed, a new header photo for you all to look at! Thank you for the good wishes, and I hope that your Mothers Day is a good one.
Desiree - my pleasure! Hope all your little puppies are doing well over there!
Becca - hope that little list helps you if only in a little way.
Susan - lovely to have your comment today! As you say, some of them are simply common sense, but it doesn't hurt to remind ourselves. Anything that can make life a little bit easier must be a good thing!
I am so glad you posted this list. I do some of these things already, but it is good to learn some new strategies. I'm going to copy it for my daughter, who feels overwhelmed by life. Maybe it will help her.
Shady- What the hell were you doing staying up all night at our age?! Go to bed.
Belle - I am so glad that I posted this list if it will help your daughter just a little. It's awful when you feel overwhelmed by life. As you say, goodness knows what our friend Shady was up to, staying up so late!!
Simply wonderful and so true, thank you for sharing. Some of them are really worth remembering, like try to say no :) Enjoy the weekend!
Claudia -glad you enjoyed the list! Enjoy your weekend over there as well.
Thanks so much for leaving such sweet comments every time! Have a lovely sunday and thanks for sharing this list,
Maureen
A - I LOVE the new header. B - What a great list. "Avoid tight fitting clothes." has been something I have drawn closer too lately. Making Duplicate Copies of Important Papers yes! and scanning into the computer! ;)
I'm in love with this list! Thank you for posting it!
Love the list - great advice. My 50 ways list started off with: 1)retire early - that one in itself relieved about 90% of the stress in my life.
Dear Thisisme,
That was BRILLIANT!
I am grateful to have seen something like it years ago and have tried (albeit not always successfully) to use these tips to live a relatively stress-reduced life. (stress-free would be a stretch)
Great post!
Happy Thoughts,
Jenny
We would all be wise to post this list to refer to often. Some very good advice. Had a very good day visiting Linda's Aunt Frances and was overjoyed to find out there was a bluegrass group that sang spiritual songs and entertained us with there talent playing instruments like my favorite, the banjo. I will have a post with pictures soon. Happy Mother's Day.
I loved this list - a bunch of great stuff on it to follow. We could pick just one and be so much better off.
sandie
That is a fantastic list, I love it!
Duncan In Kuantan
Duncan - Hi! Do glad you liked the list. (Not so sure about you with the bubble bath though!).
Daydream Living - your beautiful posts always brighten my day. Thank you!
Kristina - glad you like the new header photo. I think there are quite a few really good points on that list, especially the tight clothes! LOL!!
Glenda Manus - Like you, I retired early, and feel so blessed that I was able to do so. I don't know how I ever found time to go to work!!
Pearson Report - Happy Sunday to you! Yes, stress free would be a bit too much to hope for, but as long as we do our best to make things easier for ourselves.
Odie - How wonderful that the Blue Grass Group were playing, and spiritual songs at that. I call those moments lovely interludes in our lives. Glad you had a good time with Linda's Aunt Frances. I expect she was so pleased to see you both. Looking forward to the pics!
Chatty Crone - Hope you are having a lovely weekend dear friend, and I'm glad liked the list.
Hi Diane .. I cannot forget to look after myself .. there is only me here to look after me .... most of the time ..!
Anne in Oxfordshire - oh, that sounds really sad!! It can be lonely I am sure with your husband away so much. Take care.
I actually do most of these! If there's one thing I could add, it would be this: SIMPLIFY
On My Soapbox - I expect you to be absolutely stressfree then!!
