Hi there. Hope you are all enjoying the weekend. Do you know one of the wonderful things about being my age? No?! Then I will tell you - being my age is wonderful, because every single day is a weekend. Most of my friends have so much going on in their lives, that they just don't know how they ever found the time to go to work!! Except now, of course, we are doing things that we actually want to do. Believe me, going to work is very over-rated. Hee Hee!
I can just imagine you all grumbling away to yourselves at the above comments, but please remember that I did work for most of my adult life. Even when the children were little, I had part-time jobs, so I have been there!!
Anyway, I thought I would do something different with my photo today, and here it is - sepia and in soft focus.
This is the original photo. After looking at the one above, the colours look almost harsh, don't they? Which one do you prefer?

it's actually sunday here, too (12:04am). can't believe i'm first to comment (LOL - that's a first!)
love the picture conversion to sepia. i do that frequently, too.
There's that handsome grandson of yours again! For a moment I thought it was a picture taken of you back in the 50s, Thisisme! The sepia tone and soft focus really does give it a vintage look and that picture is my Pick to Click! Have a delightful Sunday, dear friend Thisisme!
I must say Thisisme I have to pick the black and white. I seem to be tending towards those lately. Though I do lvoe the colour something about that vintage look that is so appealing and much softer.
Isnt it the truth about your quote we didnt even know the hole was there until they arrived. Grandchildren I say is our award for surving parent hood.
Blessings
The sepia grabs my interest, as I've always been partial to b/w.
I don't at all take umbrage at your leisure statement. I've been able to do things at my own pace for a very long time, plus when my kids were young, mother's simply didn't work outside the home plus the men were coming home from WW2 and they needed their jobs back. Oh, I'm 81.

Love the sepia photo shop. And yes grandkids do fill that lovely spot in our hearts! Enjoy your weeklong weekend, I think we've earned them!
Hugs~
The sepia photo has something special! And to be honest I understand you comments at the beginning, I hope that I will reach that stage!
Teresa - Yay! You're here first!! Now that really is a first! Always good to hear from you my friend.
Shady Del Knight - Well, yes, I can understand your mistake because, obviously, most of the photos taken of me when I was young, very definitely in black & white. I agree with you on the vintage look. I prefer it too!
Bethe - I think most of us are going to prefer the retro looking photo today! Yes, that quote is so true, and you don't realize it until they arrive!!
Manzanita - how lovely to see you here today. Thank you so much for popping over and leaving a comment. I certainly hope that I will still be blogging when I'm 81! I do have another Follower in her early 80's, and I think it's wonderful!
Sush - yes, you're right, we have earned our long weekends, haven't we my friend?!
Claudia - I hope you reach that stage too! It's lovely!!
Love the Sepia .. :-) looks softer.
Sorry I have not been in touch lately .. to be honest not a lot has been going on .. and I still not in the mood for looking at my photos . It will come back soon I know. Take care love Anne xo
Love the quote! :) Perfect - & the pic. He is so cute.
SkippyMom - thank you. He really is His Royal Cuteness!!! Hope you and the family are having a good Sunday my friend.
I like the picture in sepia - it makes it softer in a way.
You're so right about not having enough time at our hands - as we have to spend 8 or 9 hours at work. My dream is to be able to do painting FULL TIME - but perhaps one day, you never know ;) I can so much imagine that your days are like weekends!
Have a lovely Sunday!
The sepia one is lovely. Have a lovely Sunday :)
Anne in Oxfordshire - I can imagine that you don't really feel much like blogging or looking at your photos at the moment. It WILL come back, and we can all look at your lovely photos then. It was really good to see you here today.
EvaMarie - Your paintings are so lovely that I hope you do get your dream to paint all day at some stage. Until then, you will have to be patient!
lyndylou - everyone is going for the sepia one! Hope you have a good Sunday too and that Jack is going on alright at the moment. Hugs.
Yes, this later time IS weekend-every-day! And we deserve it. Regardless.
I never worked outside the home, but don't mind being glad, that I have little "duties," now. Nope. Never have had any trouble with saying things like; "Sorry, but I don't feel like doing that." -grin-
Husband is still kind of plugged-into doooooooooing things. But he is relinquishing them, one by one. Good! And all in good time. :-) He enjoys doing, doing, doing, more than I. :-)
Mmmmmmmmm... Photos. I like them both! Each has its own charm.
~♥~
I love what you did with the photo!
Oh, thisis me
I'm envious for your life-style; haha, starting grumbling!
Well, unexpectedly busy after hubby's retirement with personal matter.
Amazing difference between sepia one and the colored one. From other friend's post, I learnt the word "aged photo effect".
I also prefer the sepia one ♫♫♫
Blessing to all of your lovely family, Orchid.
The sepia toned speaks to his innocense. Color feels ADHD, too much. He is a cutie pie.
Thisisme,I feel the same.I know exactly what your saying is true. It's funny, last night I thought of a post I wanted to do that says almost the same thing.Wait and see if you agree:)
I love the one with colors much better. Have a great rest of your sunday and say hi to your hubby for me.
Odie
:)
I'll take anything with Elijah Toots in!!
I like the sepia photo better. I love the soft, angelic look of it. I enjoy being retired too. I love being free to do what I want with my day. I babysat my grandchildren till they were teens and it is nice to rest from that! It was a blessing while it lasted.
Aunt Amelia's Attic - thank you for your very good comment. I am getting better at saying 'no' as well! Like your husband, my husband is still very much plugged in, but he enjoys being like that, and I honestly can't see that ever changing.
Donna K Weaver - hallo! thank you. It was fun doing different things with the photo. Hope you are having a good weekend.
Orchid - greetings to you in Japan my friend! I did smile at your "starting to grumble" comment. Hee Hee!! Yes, the photo does have an aged photo effect! I love the sepia look I must admit. Blessings.
Linda - I hadn't thought of that, but you are quite right, the sepia one does speak to his innocence!! Thank you for pointing that out.
Denise - that was funny that you were thinking along the same lines. I shall look forward to reading your post about it! Thanks for popping over today.
Odie - you're the only one to like the colour photo best my friend! It does have a lot more detail in it, but it was quite nice playing around with the image. My best wishes to Linda & Rocky as well.
Gawgus things - I know what you mean!!
Belle - I'm glad that you are enjoying retirement as well. It's quite wonderful isn't it. As you say, looking after the grandchildren was a blessing while it lasted. Take care.
Whyyyy is she so adorable??? She is like the cutest kid ever!

Everyday Life
I really love the sepia photo. It is a treasure that needs to be copied and framed to be place on your desk.
I enjoy retirement too!
And I loved this quote -
A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty."

Love the sepia one I have done that to many of my photos also as I think they look so cool........
My dad could not wait to retire and has been retired for over 10 years now and loves it he is always doing something......well not so much now as he did before the cancer but is still fairly busy.....
I do not know what my hubby will do when he retires as he is a workaholic.......
Bonnie - thank you! It is actually my little grandson, which makes him even more cute! Hee Hee!! It's the long blond hair that fooled you!
Becky - Hallo! Haven't seen you over here for quite a while my friend. Yes, that vintage look is great, isn't it?
Becca - Glad that your mum agrees with me. It really is the best of times!
Retired English Teacher - that is a good idea about putting it in a frame! Glad you liked it.
Chatty Crone - the quote is great, isn't it and, as we both know, so very true!!
Jo-Anne Rambling - so sorry to hear that your dad has cancer, but I'm glad that he is still able to do things. My husband will be 67 next week, and he is still working!! He has always been a workaholic too.
