I'll Never Catch Up!

Hallo everyone! Well, here we are in December (already, can you believe?! Where HAS this year gone!) and 'tis the Season to be jolly!  I love this time of the year, I must admit.  My only regret is that, in all the stores and garden centres, it starts usually at the beginning of October, which I always think is far too early.  It seems to take some of the magic away somehow.

Advent Calendars

I always go to bed here in England feeling very pleased with myself, because I have caught up on all my reading and commenting on the Blogs that I follow.  Then, when I wake up in the morning, there they all are again, breeding like rabbits!! I am always amazed at the number that appear overnight, obviously because of the time difference around the world!  Eeek! Hence the title of my post today - "I'll Never Catch Up!"

Am I the only one around here who forgets things?  This evening there is an Advent Fair in the local Church.  Father Christmas arrives in his sleigh and all the lights are turned on in the village where the shops are.  Anyway, we are having a stall at the Fair for Children's Hospice South West.  I said that I would do the Friday evening stint, and then a friend of mine phoned to say that she and her husband would pick hubby and I up at 7 p.m. to go out for our meal this evening.  Eeek and double Eeeek! I hadn't written the meal in my diary, so I had double-booked myself.

I said that I would go down to the Church at 5 p.m. and set everything up, and then I would have to leave again at 6.30 p.m.  I am also looking after little Ruby Violet today, so it's going to be all go!

Well peeps, there's not much news from my little corner of the world at the moment, so I will love you and leave you.  I hope you all have some relaxing time at the weekend.  From here on in until Christmas, it can tend to get very busy, with people getting stressed out.  Let's remember the real meaning of Christmas and try to spread peace and love to everyone we meet in the lead up to the big day.  Hugs to you all.

have a wonderful day withRuby Violet and enjoy your evening too. When you have time, would you read my blog and leave a comment on the site I direct you too, please? Thanks and hugs.

Not much going on at the moment? You've got to be kidding! Diane, I don't know how you do it all and you always sound so cheerful and bubbly. I know precisely what you mean when you say how happy you feel when you've read and commented on all the blogs you follow, and then get knocked for a dime when you wake up to find "they've all bred like rabbits" come morning! Such a perfect way to describe that :) It's going to be well nigh impossible to keep up with everything with holidays upon us, so I'm sure we're all going to be rather scarce around Blog Land for a while...and, we'll all understand! Enjoy your little Angel and have a wonderful time with your friends this evening :)

Lovely post Dear Diane :) as always. Christmas is such a bright season isn't it? Even though it's dark outside, all the lights and the feelings we get makes it all bright and warm. It's time for lunch here. Have a fantastic day with Ruby and a lovely evening with your friends!
Big hugs! xo

Hi, Thisisme! Your post, Desiree's comment, and Belle's latest post all relate to a dilemma that we are facing. How can you maintain your current crop of blog friends if you keep adding more? By the same token how can you ignore new followers who reach out to you in sincere friendship, comment regularly on your blog and operate interesting blogs of their own? It's torture to have to draw the line. I don't want to turn my back on anybody who wants to be friends but I can't keep adding new blogs to my list and more friends to my life without shortchanging the ones I now have. I have fewer than 100 followers but approximately two dozen of them have become close friends in the past year. I have become so busy and pressed for time that I am giving serious thought to scaling back my blog next year, publishing only once every 5 days or once a week. The last thing I want is to overextend myself to the point that it compromises the quality of my blog or prevents me from giving my best to you, to Desiree, to Belle and to the other people that I have come to care about so deeply. Give Ruby a hug and a smooch for me and have a safe and happy weekend, dear Thisisme!

What Shady Said !!! He puts it so well.
Have fun with Ruby Violet and don't spread yourself too thin as I know you are in great demand over there across the pond. Early afternoon for you so have a great rest of the day until later.

It's your age Mother dear, that's making you forget things ;) And I know, I know, one day it will be my turn!! Let's not bring up the fact that I've already forgotten to collect my daughter once before ok...!

It must just be me, but I read who I like, add when I want and comment when I get a chance. I don't blog "for comments" and I certainly wouldn't drop someone because they were too busy to leave a comment. Heck, I read and comment on a lot of blogs that rarely, if ever, commented on mine. Sure they are nice to get, but friendship is bonus of blogging and comments are just a big ol' bow on the gift.

Honestly, real life does [has to] come first - and blogging is just a wonderful past time in which to expand yourself and your friendships.

No worries- enjoy your weekend, especially time with Ruby [lucky, lucky!]and we'll see you on the flipside.

Linda - Ruby has just gone up for a little nap, so I am blogging again! I have been over to your blog and read that beautiful piece of writing about Christmasses past. Well done my friend!

Desiree - It seems that you, myself, Shady & Odie know exactly the feeling of being over-run by the blogs that we follow! Shady has put it so beautifully this morning (as he always does!). I have made some very good friendships over this past year, and I would like to keep it on a one to one basis with those friends. That is why I don't do blog hops any more. Yes, I'm really looking forward to the meal tonight and relaxing with friends. Sending hugs your way.

Eva - thank you! I'm pleased to hear that you are now feeling a little better :) Enjoy your weekend my friend, before it's back to the daily grind! LOL!

Shady - you've hit the nail right on the head with your very succinct comment this morning dear Tom. I can say no more really, only that I am in total agreement. We certainly don't want to feel pressure with our blogging. Just make sure that you don't go away completely in the new year, as too many of "your ladies" depend on you and your wonderful comments!

Odie - yes, our friend Shady has it spot on, hasn't he? I notice that you haven't been around quite so much as you used to be. Sometimes life just gets in the way, and that's how it should be! I hope you are all well over there my friend.

Gawgus - What do you mean, "my age"! I'll have you know that I'm still a youngster (well, in my head anyway!). Yes, I must put that little story in a blog post someday about you forgetting to collect your daughter.....! x

SkippyMom - hi there my little friend from across the pond. You're so right, that real life just has to come first. My daughter always tells me that I worry too much about trying to comment on everyone's blogs! I think you've got it just right, about commenting when you want to and adding when you want to. A Wise piece of advice from you today Skippy! Enjoy your weekend. Sending warm wishes and hugs your way.

That is an apt analogy about the rabbits. I do not keep up either and I join numerous parties every week. I know some bloggers who try and comment just once a week on their favorite blogs and at some point that may make sense.

It seems December is the busiest month of all, and everything is worthy of devoting time to. I appreciated reading your post as I've already overextended myself with accepting invitations for this weekend. We do need to remember what (and Who) this Christmas season is about.

Southhamsdarling said...

Olive - that's a good idea actually. Reading favourite blogs once a week (or perhaps twice if we have the time) and then leaving a comment. I find it running away from me when I try to keep up on a daily basis, especially if I'm out for the day! Thank you!

Shelly - You're so right about it being the busiest time of the year, and it really is important that, when we're caught up in the hurly burly of it all, to remember what (and, as you said, who) it is all about. Looks as if you're going to have a busy weekend.

Your schedule sounds a bit like mine gets this time of year. Minus of curse the precious gifts of the grandchildren. I dream of that happening everyday. In fact they were all heavey on my heart last evening. It is such a beautiful time of year. So many things going on. The best thing is having little ones around an seeing it through their eyes. I think some how the magic comes so alive through them. I agree Christmas comes earlier over here as well. Hubby wants me to put up decorations this weekend. So my snowman will start appearing along with my navities. He said he wanted twinkling lights last evening.
I will be praying for you and have a wonderful day and great weekend. May the Lord bless your fair!
Blessings

I follow so many because I want to, so I've had to stop commenting on the comments left on my blog. I also pick several bloggers and go back through all the blogs I've missed. I have to rotate. It's definitely not as easy as it used to be. Plus I've not been online as often as I was because I'm trying to keep busy and enjoy life outside of the internet too. Only a true friend will understand that right? You'll always be my awesome friend from across the pond! Big Hugs!

Have a great day - try to breathe and enjoy the day. Christmas is a wonderful season and yet there is always so much to do.

I haven't got the first thing out yet!

And I forget things all the time and it worries me too.

Love,
sandie

Forget things? At least you didn't forget about your mother's eye doctor appointment! I was supposed to take her but here I was with no car besides forgetting. Luckily, her friend was able to take her.

Yes, I sometimes feel overwhelmed with reading blogs and commenting, but I also love it so much. And here I am joining another blogfest! I only do it for fun. I didn't realize you get more followers! Oh well, I will do the best I can to keep up with everyone. I'm not going to let it stress me out. I should probably only blog once every three days or so. Why do I have this urge to blog every single day! I have no idea. :(

Good Morning Dearest Dian,
I am forgetting things more and my calendar in the kitchen is full of memos(^^;)
I DO feel the same way; I put my cellar-phone in my bed so that I can read the eagerly awaiting comments for my post and woke me up during the night, hehe.
I was reminded how much Christmas means to western people through blogging♡♡♡
As I told you before, I've never had a Christmas Tree in the house. Maybe, nowadays the people who have a big house will. And really reminded how important Christmas is for the western people. LOVE the NEW BACKGROUND♡♡♡
I wish you can have relaxing splendid season with your family!!!Love and Lots of Hugs to you, xoxo Miyako*

I know the feeling. I always feel like I can't catch up with my reading. I just don't want to miss a thing. I don't know how you do so much and keep up with blogging too.

Love ya bloggy friend. I wish I could go to the Advent Fair with you. Wouldn't that be fun?

Hi girl! You always manage to get your stuff done, you've gotten an early start on Christmas. But, I see where you're coming from. Me...I don't have many followers on my blogs, and sometimes I wonder what I do wrong to not have more. But, I get a lot of views, so that helps keep me going. And, then, sometimes I'm glad I don't have so many followers, because the ones I have are so special, and I can spend more quality time reading and enjoying all of the exciting photos and fun stories from y'all. I really look forward to your Wordless Wednesdays and Sunday Snaps! You'll make it my dear friend! Remember-you're a "woman of a certain age"...and that's ageless!
