Hallo all my little bloggy friends. You might (or might not!) have noticed that I am not posting quite so much at the moment. Like all of us at this time of the year, there are things to be done and places to go to. I am now all prepared, apart from the last minute fruit and veg shopping, so that's a good feeling, and I think I will probably go to the local farm shops, rather than put myself through the crush of people at the Supermarket.
Most of my Followers know Bouncin'Barb, and she has been kidding us this year with a "Bah Humbug" approach to Christmas. Her little tree has been up, but it's been standing there feeling all bare, neglected and sorry for itself. Anyway, yesterday, the decorations were hung on its branches, and the twinkling lights were switched on. Bravo BB! Do go over and say hallo. I know she would make you feel very welcome.
Getting super excited as I type this, because I only have to wait a few more hours before I see my daughter, granddaughter and little Alfred, their French Bulldog.

I'm off to the mountains for the weekend with my date for the last 40 years. Sunday is our 40th wedding anniversary! Probably won't be blogging much but I'll check in now and then...

Hello, dear Thisisme! I'm literally typing in the dark by flashlight so as not to disturb my slumbering house guests. I've got them wall-to-wall and many busy days yet to come before my nest is empty once again. I had to make time to stop in and say hallo and see this delightful picture of Alfred. I hope the gang has arrived from Paris by now and that everyone enjoys the holiday visit to the fullest. I miss you and all of my wonderful blog friends. What beautiful cards! They depict something that I think we're missing today, and that is innocence. I'm so excited for you to have your family all together through the holidays. Merry Christmas Diane! P.S. I recently watched a dvd of the Choir at Stratford Upon Avon singing traditional Christmas carols. I thought of you and was also amazed to recognize that Christmas here in the US has been directly influenced by the traditional songs and literature of England. From Charles Dicken's The Christmas Carol, to O Little Town of Bethlehem, England is ingrained in our cultural memory. When we celebrate the season here, we are singing the same songs, eating the same meals, reading the same stories, saying the same prayers.

I love those old cards. Mum kept ours from years ago and put them in scrapbooks for us. I went over to visit Barb and saw her little tree all bright and festive looking. She just needed a bit of encouragement from you. Enjoy your family this holiday season.

I love your vintage cards. And I loved the cards with glitter on them. When I worked for Hallmark Cards, I would get that glitter all over me, and the red flocking that was made to look like velvet. The cool card with the woman shopping really is great. And the mailbox cards are still a favorite today.
